Enterprise Ready Reporting Coming this Summer in NSM 2.1

Preimesberger Chris Preimesberger’s Storage Station blog on eweek.com recently wrote that “The increase in the amount of data being stored isn’t slowing down one iota” He brings out the impressive quarterly earnings reported by storage companies and the storage divisions of computer manufacturers.

It’s obvious that the new Enterprise Ready Reporting enhancement in this summer’s release of Novell Storage Manager 2.1 will play a big role in helping organizations get storage under control.

The Enterprise Ready Reporting feature is identity-based and is engineered to support large enterprises. With Enterprise Ready Reporting, you can schedule the examination of millions of files and hundreds of thousands of directories in a variety of operating systems and files systems, and then provide comprehensive reports on what file types are being stored, when files were created, when files were last opened, if files have been duplicated or updated, and much more.

Using these reports, you can make decisions on what to do with these files to free up your storage.

A feature within Enterprise Ready Reporting is Storage Charge Back Reports, which lets you put a monetary value on storage, determines a monetary cost of storage by department, and if desired, uses cost as the means of charging back departments that exceed storage quotas
